For the very first time ESN and Theater Kikker are collaborating to bring two amazing modern dance performances to you:
Double bill: A P N E A - Rodrigo Sobarzo & SWEAT BABY SWEAT – Jan Martens
Choreographer Jan Martens has created an impressive oeuvre within a short period of time. His poetic performances are minimalist whereas he plays with phenomena such as time and the body. Jan Martens' work has been staged in Theater Kikker and we have been his fans since the start of his career. Now we are inviting Jan Martens to do our three-day festival. A great honour! A minor retrospective, which features two gems that he has created as well as the work of associated makers who have joined forces with Jan at the new label GRIP.
On Friday March 10th Theater Kikker has a special offer for ESN students. For only €10 you can attend this exciting event with your ESNcard!

About the show
A P N E A - Rodrigo Sobarzo
Rodrigo Sobarso de Larraechea, a Chilean choreographer, likes the challenges posed by nature's forces. His performances explore how this potency influences the human body. A P N E A confronts us with what we tend to take for granted: the living presence of the oxygen that surrounds us. Sound waves create an atmospheric space that is comparable to an underwater world where water pressures and the lack of oxygen make themselves felt.
From and with: Rodrigo Sobarzo
SWEAT BABY SWEAT – Jan Martens
Two people cling together. Like parasites they drain each other's energy bit by bit. SWEAT BABY SWEAT is a sensual slow piece that fuses acrobatic vigour with mental fragility. The subject matter of the restrained and intense performance is love beyond all clichés. The soundscape and text projections offer a subtle commentary on the choreography. The performance has been making waves for years; also internationally.
Choreography: Jan Martens
Dance: Kimmy Ligtvoet and Steven Michel
